Job Description

Google Cloud is seeking a Staff Engineer for their BigQuery Data Integration team to lead the development of solutions enabling massive-scale data migrations. This role combines deep technical expertise in distributed systems with data warehouse design to solve complex challenges in data processing and migration. You'll be working on systems that handle petabytes to exabytes of data daily, directly impacting customers' journey to Business Intelligence and AI capabilities.

As a Staff Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing cloud-native solutions for data warehouse migration, while providing technical leadership to the team. The role requires expertise in distributed processing systems, using languages like Java, Python, or Scala, and familiarity with modern big data technologies including Apache Spark, Hive, and Iceberg.

  • Design and develop software for Data Warehouse migration, focusing on cloud-native and distributed systems
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering Managers to drive the technical strategy for data migration and the development of new connectors
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to the team, ensuring quality in design and code reviews
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of new features, managing project priorities and deadlines to launch with quality
