Job Description

Google is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to join their Endpoint Security team, focusing on safeguarding user data and preventing attacks on Googlers and their systems. This role operates on the frontline of device security, working with laptops, desktops, cloud instances, and mobile devices. The position requires a deep understanding of security engineering and leadership capabilities.

As a Staff Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for strengthening platform security, measuring security states, and implementing trust levels based on these measurements. You'll work on developing and maintaining effective tools and controls for both prevention and detection, while carefully balancing security requirements with user productivity needs. Your solutions will integrate into Google's core infrastructure, enhancing security for hundreds of thousands of users and over a million devices.

The role is part of Google's Core team, which builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. You'll be involved in creating central solutions, breaking down technical barriers, and strengthening existing systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company and contribute to Google's overall security posture.

Key responsibilities include partnering with various stakeholders to prioritize security initiatives, making critical design and policy decisions, mentoring other engineers, and leading enterprise-focused security improvements. Responsibilities For Staff Security Engineer, Endpoint Security

  • Partner with individual contributors, technical leads, managers, partner teams and executive leadership to prioritize security engineering efforts to address risks and meet business objectives
  • Make individual contributions to select design and policy decisions, drive and conclude information security risk discussions and escalations up to and including VP level
  • Act as a mentor and role model for Security Engineers and other engineers across Google
  • Design infrastructure and leads its implementation to protect Google networks and systems
  • Lead enterprise focused security improvements to Google products and services

Requirements For Staff Security Engineer, Endpoint Security

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Go)
  • 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols
  • 5 years of experience Security leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment
  • Understanding offensive Security techniques and threats, designing and building security features to address these threats and managing large-scale Enterprise security controls rollouts
