Job Description

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Geo Core Maps Platform team, focusing on systems that handle geographic data visualization and cartographic generalization. This role involves building the cartographic map platform that powers Google Maps Consumer and Developer products. The position requires expertise in software development, technical leadership, and experience with public-facing APIs/SDKs.

The role is critical in developing and maintaining the systems that create visual representations of geographic data across different scales. You'll work on the entire pipeline from server-side tile generation and publishing to styling and rendering on multiple platforms. The team supports both consumer-facing Google Maps products and developer platforms, serving over a billion users monthly.

As a technical leader, you'll guide project teams, set technical direction, and collaborate with teams across Seattle, Mountain View, and Bangalore. The role demands strong skills in software architecture, system design, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll be responsible for debugging and optimizing 3D experiences across various devices and platforms.

The position offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $197,000-$291,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
