Staff Software Engineer, Google Cloud Compute

Google Cloud Compute is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their team working on Persistent Disk (PD), Google Cloud's block storage system that provides mission-critical storage solutions to thousands of enterprises. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on software development in distributed systems.

The position requires an experienced engineer with 8+ years of software development experience and strong expertise in infrastructure, distributed systems, and software architecture. You'll be working on one of Google Cloud's fastest-growing products, specifically on PD which affects millions of users including AI/ML customers.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll lead technical projects, mentor team members, and drive architectural decisions. The role involves designing and developing scalable solutions, managing project priorities, and ensuring successful delivery of complex distributed systems. The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $197,000 to $291,000 base salary, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
