Job Description

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Pixel GPU Software team, focusing on graphics and video technologies. This role is crucial in developing next-generation technologies that impact billions of users' interactions with Google products. The position involves working on Pixel devices from SoC conception to field deployment, collaborating closely with Android, Camera, Display, Video, and Power teams. The team enables everything from low-power animations to rich UI, high-end games, and on-device image processing.

Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer, Pixel Graphics and Video

  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects and advise Android and Pixel leadership on performance and feature opportunities in graphics software
  • Influence, coach and manage a distributed team of engineers
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines
  • Develop GPU graphics and compute technologies spanning the full GPU software stack
  • Evaluate and bring devices and work with product and engineering teams to define the role and requirements of the GPU in future product designs

Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, Pixel Graphics and Video

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction
