Job Description

Google's Global Manufacturing Operations team is seeking a Test Development Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure team. This role is crucial in evaluating product designs and developing test scripts/tools to support Google's cloud infrastructure products in manufacturing. The position involves working with custom-designed equipment that makes up one of the largest computing infrastructures globally.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing test software, collaborating with manufacturing partners, and ensuring high product quality through effective testing solutions. They will work closely with Contract Manufacturers and Joint Design Manufacturers to validate and deploy test scripts, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in Electrical or Computer Engineering who has experience with Python programming and Linux systems. The role combines software development with hardware testing, requiring both technical expertise and collaborative skills. Responsibilities For Test Development Engineer, Global Manufacturing Engineering

  • Resolve critical test software issues to unblock production and minimize manufacturing downtime
  • Enhance and maintain test scripts and software to support new test features
  • Partner with Contract Manufacturers (CM) and Joint Design Manufacturers (JDM) to validate and deploy new test scripts
  • Perform root cause analysis on system test failures
  • Develop tools and systems to streamline team workflows and increase productivity
  • Assist Google cyber security team on the deployment of security requirement into test environment

Requirements For Test Development Engineer, Global Manufacturing Engineering

Python
Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with coding
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or a related field (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience in software development (preferred)
  • Experience with testing products for manufacturing
  • Experience with operating system configuring and scripting, especially on Linux OS
  • Experience with Python script development and validation
  • Familiarity with software system architecture and development process
