Description For Underground Mine Dispatch Engineer

Hellas Gold S.A., a subsidiary of Eldorado Gold Corporation, is seeking an Underground Mine Dispatch Engineer for their operations in Chalkidiki, Greece. The company operates the Kassandra Mines, which include the Olympias Mine, the modern Kokkinolakkas Dry Stack Tailings facility, and the Skouries project. With over 25 centuries of mining history, Hellas Gold invests in sustainable development, employing 1,600 workers and making significant investments exceeding $1 billion.

The Dispatch Engineer will play a crucial role in coordinating underground mining operations, reporting to the Senior Mine Operations Engineer (Technology and Projects) in the Mine Operations department at Olympias. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise in mining operations and modern mining technology systems.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing real-time operations, coordinating equipment and personnel movements, and optimizing mine productivity through the use of advanced monitoring systems and software. They will need to demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, leadership skills, and the ability to make quick decisions in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities For Underground Mine Dispatch Engineer

  • Design and implement special work distribution plans and programs for mine operations
  • Coordinate the movement and distribution of mobile equipment, materials, and personnel
  • Monitor activities and mobile/stationary equipment in real-time
  • Use software (e.g., Scada) and monitoring systems (e.g., Pitram) to track equipment performance
  • Analyze data to identify trends, deviations, and improvement opportunities
  • Create reports on work distribution operations and production metrics
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment repair and preventive maintenance
  • Manage, train, and develop surface Control Room personnel
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

Requirements For Underground Mine Dispatch Engineer

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in mining operations or related field
  • Experience in mine coordination role (preferred)
  • Proficiency in mine resource management software
  • Knowledge of mining operations and equipment
  • Excellent familiarity with mining coordination software (Micromine Pitram, Epiroc Mobilaris, Groundhog FMS)
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations
  • Leadership and team management abilities
