The company serves over 2 million businesses worldwide, processing 15 billion API hits and 2.5 billion message events daily while managing 470 terabytes of data across five databases.
The role demands an experienced engineer to lead the design and optimization of scalable database solutions, focusing on Elasticsearch, Clickhouse, and modern data systems. You'll be responsible for developing efficient data models, ensuring high performance, and implementing best practices for data management across the platform's extensive infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Lead Engineer – Databases
- Design and optimize usage of Elasticsearch and Clickhouse for operational and analytical workloads
- Develop efficient, scalable data models for document, search, and columnar storage patterns
- Monitor and improve query performance, indexing strategies, and cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate with engineering, data, and DevOps teams to integrate database best practices
- Ensure high availability and performance of data workloads
- Define and enforce best practices for schema governance and data lifecycle management
- Evaluate and benchmark new managed database services
- Automate performance monitoring and alerting
Requirements For Lead Engineer – Databases
- 5+ years of experience working with cloud-managed database platforms
- Deep expertise in Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and Clickhouse
- Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL systems in production environments at scale
- Proven ability to optimize query performance and storage in high-scale environments
- Experience integrating databases with application stacks and streaming pipelines
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages for automation and tooling
- Understanding of cloud-native security, RBAC, and compliance requirements
- Experience with database observability, monitoring, and alerting systems
