Job Description

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Linux System Engineer to join their Base Engineering Development Team for the TAS Platform, a safety-critical real-time hardware and software platform for the railway domain. Responsibilities For Linux System Engineer

  • Linux administrative work on server solutions to setup virtual environments and network infrastructure
  • Work on frameworks to setup servers via scripting and ansible workbooks
  • Contribution to manage server farms with cluster management software like OpenStack
  • Analyzing real-time issues on server and embedded systems including communication aspects
  • Work on customer support cases in the field of system virtualization solutions
  • Contribution to Linux distribution like Yocto and driver development
  • Evaluate open source embedded systems or solutions for use in TAS Platform
  • Work with TAS Platform support team to support stakeholders and developers

Requirements For Linux System Engineer

Linux
Python
  • Completed education (HTL, FH, University) in Informatics, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in Linux system administration and development on OS level
  • Know-how on server solutions, remote maintenance, virtualization and cluster management software
  • Know-how on real-time and embedded systems preferred
  • Know-how on network setups in real and virtual environments
  • Programming experience in C/C++, GNU make files, shell script and ansible solutions and python
  • Good communication skills for technical collaboration
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in English, German skills highly beneficial
