Description For Data Infrastructure Engineer

Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design, is seeking a Data Infrastructure Engineer to join their data infrastructure team. This role is crucial in driving stability, scalability, and efficiency for Houzz's data ecosystem. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge big data technologies while processing petabytes of data.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting and implementing end-to-end data solutions, including data pipelines, event streaming, and data warehouse/data lake systems. You'll work with technologies like EMR, Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka, Trino/Presto, and Airflow, while also automating infrastructure operations and building analytical frameworks.

This role combines technical expertise with collaborative teamwork, as you'll be working alongside data engineers, data scientists, designers, and product managers. The position requires strong programming skills, experience with distributed systems, and a deep understanding of data infrastructure technologies.

Responsibilities For Data Infrastructure Engineer

  • Build scalable and reliable data infrastructure that processes petabytes of data
  • Integrate with big data technologies and workflow management frameworks
  • Automate the process of infra operation such as EMR provisioning and autoscaling
  • Build tools and framework for data analysis
  • Create monitoring and alerting processes for the data infrastructure team
  • Own service operation in production, including participating in on-call rotation
  • Work in a small, collaborative team to build an amazing data experience
  • Promote best practices and improve the quality of the internal data products

Requirements For Data Infrastructure Engineer

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-functional skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
