Job Description

HRL Laboratories is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to join their Sensors & Electronics Laboratory team. This role combines hardware and software engineering expertise, focusing on RF and electromagnetic systems development. The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in communication, radar, and electronic warfare applications, with frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 200+ GHz.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills in embedded systems programming, circuit board design, and RF systems. The role involves hands-on work with PCB design, test equipment, and various embedded platforms including FPGAs and microcontrollers.

Responsibilities For Embedded Systems Engineer

  • Contribute to design, fabrication, integration, and testing of RF and electromagnetic components
  • Work with scientists and engineers on RF subsystems for communication, radar, and EW applications
  • Write invention disclosures and publish papers
  • Brief customers and participate in proposal activities
  • Assist in marketing HRL expertise

Requirements For Embedded Systems Engineer

  • Experience with C/C++, Python, and MATLAB, and other low-level languages
  • 3+ years of Experience with circuit board design and evaluation
  • 3+ years of Experience in low-level programming for embedded platforms
  • Experience with PCB design, assembly, and PCB layout software
  • Ability to write test and control software for complex systems
  • Experience with RF and high-speed digital test equipment
  • Knowledge of Xilinx Zynq SoCs
  • Familiarity with FPGAs, DSPs, and microcontrollers
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering
  • Must be U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
