Description For Creature Technical Director -Evergreen

Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), founded by George Lucas in 1975, is seeking a Creature Technical Director to join their team in Mumbai. This role combines technical expertise with creative artistry in the field of visual effects and animation. The position involves working on high-profile film and entertainment projects, creating and managing character rigs and simulations for various digital assets.

As a Creature TD, you'll be responsible for rigging and enveloping characters, from hero characters to background creatures and vehicles, using Maya. You'll work under experienced supervisors to handle complex technical challenges in the creature pipeline, including flesh-surface, hair, rigid sim, crowd, and cloth simulations.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of professional experience in computer graphics or related fields, with strong expertise in Maya rigging and simulation work. You should have a solid understanding of anatomy, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities For Creature Technical Director -Evergreen

  • Provide rigging and enveloping in Maya for various vehicles, characters, and creatures
  • Run cloth, hair, rigid body, crowd, or muscle simulations
  • Troubleshoot creature pipeline issues for artists in other disciplines
  • Script utilities/tools/plug-ins in Maya
  • Participate in reviews, dailies, and department meetings
  • Mentor entry level artists

Requirements For Creature Technical Director -Evergreen

Python
  • 3 years relevant professional experience and a diploma in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or related field; OR 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience as Maya rigger for assets in digital animation, visual effects, games, commercials
  • Experience running simulation shotwork
  • Experience in corrective sculpting
  • Knowledge of anatomy and enveloping
  • Good communication skills
  • Positive attitude and team player
