Job Description

Juul Labs is on a mission to impact the lives of one billion adult smokers by eliminating combustible cigarettes. As one of the fastest-growing companies, we're seeking an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Mountain View or San Francisco, California. In this role, you'll drive continuous improvement initiatives, design and implement new fixtures, and develop robust automation systems for prototype lines. You'll work in a hands-on, collaborative environment alongside engineers, technicians, and contract manufacturers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing design reviews of manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Determining root causes of equipment and system test failures
  • Executing equipment design and process qualification activities
  • Supporting the design and building of complete automation systems
  • Troubleshooting and analyzing systems to identify failures
  • Developing reports to statistically analyze measurements and optimize criteria

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of industry experience in integration and design of equipment and automation, with deep expertise in system design and high-volume manufacturing. A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering is required.

Responsibilities For Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

  • Perform design review of Manufacturing equipment and tooling related to new product launches
  • Determine the root cause of equipment and system test failures
  • Execute equipment design and process qualification/verification activities
  • Support designing and building a complete automation system for new products launch
  • Support system qualification and ongoing system upgrades at contract manufacturing sites
  • Produce machine qualification requirements, design of experiments and failure analysis
  • Develop reports to statistically analyze measurements and optimize pass/fail criteria
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yields, productivity, and error-proofing
  • Design and implement new fixtures, overseeing the process from initial specification through to full deployment

Requirements For Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

  • 5-8 years of industry experience in integration, design of equipment and automation
  • Deep expertise with system design and integration and high volume manufacturing
  • Technical expertise in designing automation for handling high precision processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills in mechanics, materials and thermal stress
  • Experience in both development and manufacturing environments
  • Advanced knowledge with SolidWorks
  • Engineering knowledge of mechanical engineering sciences
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering
  • Available to travel 20-30% including domestic/international destinations
