Job Description

Dematic, a KION Group company, is seeking a dedicated Controls Systems Engineer at the Professional Level to join their team. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities in the field of automated material handling systems. The position involves working closely with customers and other engineers to execute conveyor systems projects, with a focus on both design and on-site commissioning of controls systems.

The role requires a unique blend of technical knowledge and project leadership skills. As a Controls Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing control solutions that enable Dematic's software and hardware systems to perform according to predetermined criteria. The position involves leading multiple projects simultaneously, from initial design phases through to on-site implementation.

Key aspects of the role include writing PLC code, working with various control systems and protocols, and ensuring system integration meets high-quality standards. The position requires strong problem-solving abilities, as you'll be handling complex technical challenges and leading project teams. You'll also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and maintaining strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in material handling solutions, with a strong background in controls engineering. Responsibilities For System Controls Engineer-3

  • Design and implement control devices for Dematic software and hardware systems
  • Lead multiple projects in design stages and on-site controls commissioning
  • Write and emulate PLC code for complex areas including host communications
  • Coordinate with customers for system design review and acceptance
  • Perform technical surveys and data collection
  • Lead controls engineering activities ensuring deliverables meet time, scope, quality, and budget
  • Mentor junior project leads
  • Support sales and solutions development team
  • Conduct technical reviews for system functionality
  • Travel up to 25% to different customer locations

Requirements For System Controls Engineer-3

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Controls Engineering preferred)
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • 5-8 years of experience in material handling solutions
  • Expertise in Studio 5000 and TIA Portal
  • Knowledge of HMI, VFDs, Control I/O Devices, ASi
  • Experience with Functional Safety and Asimon
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of CAN architecture and devices
  • Knowledge of Ethernet and network architecture
  • Experience with electrical CAD design
