Meta's Edge Network Engineering team is seeking a Network Production Engineer to join their team responsible for designing and maintaining the global IP backbone that connects Meta's worldwide Internet user community. This role combines software and network engineering skills to ensure smooth network operations while planning for future growth.
As a Network Production Engineer, you'll be designing network topologies, selecting technologies and protocols, working with vendors on feature development, and choosing network products that align with Meta's needs. You'll be responsible for the network infrastructure within Points of Presence (POPs), including peering network infrastructure and IP aggregation platforms.
The role requires expertise in both network engineering and software development, with a focus on data analysis and automation to handle Meta's growing scale. You'll work with multi-vendor, multi-protocol environments, develop code for network automation, and maintain critical infrastructure that handles all of Meta's Internet traffic.
Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining backbone infrastructure, developing network health monitoring systems, and working closely with vendors on technical roadmaps. You'll also participate in an on-call rotation and serve as an escalation point for network incidents.
This position offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of network engineering at one of the world's largest tech companies, dealing with challenges at massive scale. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network engineering, architecture, and coding, with knowledge of protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
Join Meta's Infrastructure team and help build and maintain the network that connects billions of users to Meta's family of apps and services, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and emerging AR/VR technologies.
