Research Scientist

Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join their team. The role involves researching, designing, and developing new optimization algorithms and techniques to improve the efficiency and performance of Meta's platforms. You'll be working on large-scale distributed software systems, utilizing machine learning and statistics to build algorithms, and solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches. The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, with experience in deep learning, NLP, Generative AI, and on-device algorithm or distributed system development. Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing large-scale distributed software systems
• Training new ranking models and running experiments
• Creating tools for migrating large bodies of user data across systems
• Suggesting and synthesizing system requirements from stakeholders
• Analyzing and resolving computer challenges from a system engineering standpoint

The role requires expertise in:

• Deep learning, NLP, or Generative AI
• Machine learning, applied mathematics, or physics
• Developing machine learning models at scale
• Leveraging synthetic data to improve model performance
• Programming in C/C++, Python, GraphQL, JavaScript, or shell scripts
