Meta is seeking a Senior SiteOps Data Center Production Operations Engineer to join their team in Los Lunas, NM. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on infrastructure management in Meta's large-scale data center environments. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration, data center operations, and infrastructure management.
The position involves leading complex technical projects, mentoring team members, and ensuring optimal performance of Meta's server fleet. You'll work closely with hardware teams and vendors, analyze technical issues, and develop automation solutions using languages like Python. The role requires both deep technical expertise and strong leadership skills to influence policies and drive improvements across global data center operations.
As part of Meta's Data Center Operations team, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining the infrastructure that powers Meta's suite of applications and services, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and their emerging AR/VR technologies. Responsibilities For SiteOps Data Center Production Operations Engineer
- Perform deep dives and analyze complex technical issues within the data center
- Work as a technical lead with cross-functional teams on large scale data center projects
- Provide cross data center support and identify potentially larger issues
- Work with internal hardware teams and vendors to resolve complex technical issues
- Understand/analyze issues and develop scripts and software
- Use data to drive maximum server fleet up-time and utilization rates
- Identify trends and systemic issues in the fleet and drive resolution
- Mentor team members and be the go-to technical resource for management
- Build cross functional relationships and influence policies
- Participate in an on-call rotation
Requirements For SiteOps Data Center Production Operations Engineer
- 60 months of experience in job offered or infrastructure-related occupation
- Administer and support Linux operating systems and hardware
- Knowledge of data center technologies and interdependencies
- Execute multiple concurrent projects
- Install and configure enterprise-level networking and storage equipment
- Utilize out-of-band management tools
- Apply project and time management methodologies
- Develop and modify scripts using Python, C, C++, Java, or C#
- Implement technical oversight with external vendors
- Lead infrastructure setup and maintenance in large-scale data centers
