Description For Critical Environment Manager

As a Data Center Critical Environment Technician Manager at Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), you'll play a key role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services. CO+I manages a global portfolio of over 200 datacenters in 32 countries, supporting services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. People Management: Modeling Microsoft's culture and values, coaching team members, and investing in their growth.
  2. Equipment and Systems Operations: Overseeing complex tasks, serving as an operations specialist, and managing critical environment-related facility equipment.
  3. Equipment and Systems Maintenance: Guiding and performing various types of maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordinating with third-party contractors.
  4. Critical Environment Culture: Ensuring safety and security requirements are met, promoting a safe working culture.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of mission-critical services experience. Preferred qualifications include 6+ years of experience, 1+ year of people management experience, and specialized experience in mechanical, electrical, or controls fields.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Manager

  • Model Microsoft's culture and values, coach team members, and invest in their growth
  • Oversee complex tasks and serve as an operations specialist in critical environment-related facility equipment
  • Guide and perform various types of maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with third-party contractors
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met and promote a safe working culture
  • Manage and operate equipment and systems across electrical, mechanical, and controls disciplines
  • Respond to and lead onsite incident response teams for abnormal conditions
  • Develop and follow emergency operating procedures and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate and schedule supplier/vendor on-site activities
  • Prepare and submit complex reports and develop operating procedures

Requirements For Critical Environment Manager

Linux
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 3+ years mission critical services work/applied learning experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
  • Physical requirements: occasional climbing of ladders, frequent climbing of stairs/ramps, prolonged standing, occasional lifting 50lbs, occasional push/pull 50-75lbs with assistive device, normal visual acuity and color vision
