Description For Electrical Engineering

Microsoft's Xbox Hardware team consists of diverse and creative professionals who design, test, and manufacture some of the best-loved gaming and entertainment devices in the world. Our teams ship tens of millions of hardware products every year including the Xbox Series S, Series X, a full accessories lineup, and more. Team Xbox is the destination for the brightest minds in consumer electronics design.

The Xbox console hardware team is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to own schematic design on key Xbox products. The candidate will possess the ability to collaborate closely with engineers across the team who work on many different electrical subsystems like memory, power, high-speed IO, low-speed IO, RF, SOCs, and mechanical design. This individual will work to gather design requirements, understand subsystem architectures, and integrate everything into one cohesive schematic design for a next-gen product.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning the end-to-end development of the electrical schematic for flagship Xbox products.
  • Implementing innovative solutions to electrical design challenges with guidance from other engineers.
  • Reading component specifications and interpreting common details required to design and test various hardware features.
  • Analyzing and interpreting electrical test results to identify common problems or flaws that affect the product design.
  • Developing design documentation including drawings, specifications, schematics, or wiring diagrams.
  • Determining appropriate test equipment for measuring and testing electrical circuits.
  • Writing verification test cases using standard templates and test methodologies.
  • Developing, reviewing, and executing test plans for standard Xbox features and products.
  • Documenting essential details about materials, components, and assemblies for devices via accepted release processes.
  • Accurately recording and tracking changes to designs following established processes.
  • Communicating project progress and status within the team and escalating issues as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of circuit design, datasheet analysis, timing analysis, power, performance, and circuit debugging. An eagerness to learn, good communication skills, and a willingness to tackle big challenges are necessary for success in this position.
