Description For Fiber Delivery Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Fiber Delivery Engineer to join their Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team. This role is crucial in building world-class network infrastructure, working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits. The position offers flexible work arrangements with up to 100% work from home options.

The role involves managing critical infrastructure that powers Microsoft's major services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. The infrastructure spans over 200 datacenters in 32 countries, serving more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses globally.

As a Fiber Delivery Engineer, you'll be responsible for technical project management, supplier coordination, quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with Microsoft's core fiber standards. The position requires travel (25-50%) for site inspections and offers competitive compensation ranging from $98,300 to $193,200 annually.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of relevant experience, strong project management skills, and technical expertise in outside plant operations. Responsibilities For Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Providing commercial team support with technical expertise and drawings
  • Managing frontline technical projects with external suppliers
  • Communicating status and producing reports to cross functional teams
  • Managing risks and producing mitigation options
  • Conducting quality assurance inspections
  • Managing remediation activities with supplier
  • Reviewing FC Results and ensuring compliance with Microsoft Core Fiber Standards

Requirements For Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years' experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 1+ years' outside plant (OSP) experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Experience with AutoCAD and GIS solutions
  • Experience in managing Dark Fiber Outside Plant Projects
