Microsoft AI (MAI) is seeking an experienced Principal Data Privacy & Governance Engineer to help build mission applications and platform components for personal AI and Copilot systems. The position is part of the newly formed MAI organization, dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. The team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research, shaping the future of personal computing.
As a Principal Engineer, you'll be working on building scalable services and tools in data security, privacy, and governance within distributed data and cloud platform environments. You'll collaborate with Platform, infrastructure, and application engineers, as well as AI Researchers, to develop next-generation automated data governance systems.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years of technical engineering experience, strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, and proven experience in data governance and privacy implementation.
The role offers a competitive salary range of $139,900 - $304,200 (varying by location) and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, parental leave, and investment options. The position requires 4 days per week in-office presence at either New York, Redmond, or Mountain View locations.
