Senior Design Engineer- Automation

Microsoft's Azure Fiber team in Romsey, Hampshire is seeking innovative professionals to join their cutting-edge optical fiber fabrication facility. This senior-level position focuses on developing and implementing automation solutions for next-generation fiber manufacturing processes.

The role combines hands-on engineering work with technical project management, requiring expertise in manufacturing automation and process optimization. You'll be working with state-of-the-art fabrication technologies for optical fibers, including glass preform manufacture and fiber drawing processes. The position involves collaborating closely with engineering teams to transform new fabrication methods into robust, production-ready processes.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in scaling up the new fabrication facility to meet growing customer demand and company objectives. The position requires on-site presence five days a week at the Romsey facility, with 25-50% travel requirements. You'll be responsible for managing technical projects, including schedule planning, resource allocation, and financial oversight.
