Job Description

Microsoft's Edge + Platform Security Fundamentals (EPSF) team is seeking a Senior Security Operations Engineer to join their SERPENT (EPSF Services Pentest) team. This role sits at the intersection of offensive and defensive security, working to secure some of Microsoft's largest online services within the Azure Edge & Platform and Windows Devices organizations.

The position combines hands-on technical security work with strategic thinking, requiring expertise in incident response, security controls, automation, threat detection, and penetration testing. You'll be responsible for analyzing security incidents, developing response plans, implementing security controls, building detection capabilities, and conducting security testing.

The role offers a competitive salary range of $117,200 - $229,200 (higher in SF and NYC areas), along with comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave. You'll work in a remote-friendly environment with 0-25% travel requirements.

Requirements For Senior Security Operations Engineer

  • 5+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), and operations incident response
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in technical disciplines outside security space, including general software development, networking, database management, and full-stack development
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
