Job Description

Microsoft's Defender engineering team is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer II to work on cutting-edge cloud security products protecting millions of computers from thousands of active attack attempts monthly. This role involves building and delivering cloud solutions at massive scale within highly sensitive government environments.

The position is part of the Microsoft Defender team, which provides operational support and improvements to Microsoft Defender products within US Government clouds. You'll be responsible for operating production services and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure high stability, performance SLA compliance, and meeting customer expectations.

As an SRE II, you'll participate in 24/7 on-call rotations, handle incident response, contribute to automation initiatives, and support compliance processes. The role requires an active Top Secret security clearance and involves working with state-of-the-art technologies in cyber security.

The compensation is competitive, ranging from $100,600 to $199,000 per year across most U.S. locations, with higher ranges for San Francisco and New York City areas. Microsoft offers comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, savings plans, and parental leave.

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • 2+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems (preferred)
