Microsoft's Azure Edge + Platform team is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to join their Experiences and Canvases team in Azure Monitor. This role focuses on building troubleshooting experiences that help identify, resolve and prevent issues for cloud native stack worldwide. The position involves working with React-powered user experiences in various ecosystems, including the Azure Portal.

The team's mission is to make Azure the best cloud platform for building and maintaining cloud native applications and services. As part of Azure Monitor's Experiences and Canvases team, you'll be instrumental in creating user experiences that help customers solve complex technical problems. The role offers exposure to cloud technologies and application monitoring, with opportunities to work with React and learn about how customers use these tools in their daily operations.

This position offers a hybrid work environment with up to 50% work from home flexibility and minimal travel requirements (0-25%). The compensation is competitive, ranging from $98,300 to $193,200 per year, with additional benefits including industry-leading healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in technical engineering, with expertise in languages like TypeScript/JavaScript, and a strong understanding of web technologies and frameworks. You'll be working in Microsoft's Azure Edge + Platform organization, which powers more than one billion monthly active devices and brings together Edge platforms, devices, and services to deliver comprehensive Edge solutions.

  • Works with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features
  • Contributes to identifying dependencies and developing design documents
  • Creates and implements code for products, services, or features
  • Contributes to breaking down larger work items and provides estimation
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call
  • Monitors system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions
  • Stays current with developments to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance

Requirements For Software Engineer 2

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience
  • Experience with coding in languages including C#, Java, or TypeScript/JavaScript
  • 2+ years of experience of designing, building and maintaining complex full stack web applications
  • Deep understanding of web technologies and frameworks like React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication skills
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years
