Nelly Solutions, a rapidly growing AI-enabled fintech company in healthcare, is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their Berlin office. Recently securing €50M in Series B funding from prestigious investors like Cathay, Notion, and Lakestar, Nelly is revolutionizing medical practice management through AI-driven automation and digital workflows.

The role sits within their newly launched AI division, where you'll be a pioneer in shaping the company's AI future. Working in a small, agile team, you'll be responsible for developing cutting-edge AI systems and robust data pipelines, from rapid prototypes to production solutions. The position requires a unique blend of deep machine learning theory and practical cloud/data engineering expertise.

As Lead Data Engineer, you'll be instrumental in designing and implementing modern data pipelines, deploying agentic systems, and leveraging advanced AI technologies like RAG, ReAct, and Knowledge Graphs. The role demands 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on AI and machine learning. Expertise in Python, cloud development (preferably AWS), and modern data workflow orchestration frameworks is essential.

Responsibilities For Lead Data Engineer

  • Design and implement modern data-pipelines for AI-solutions
  • Design, build, and deploy agentic systems using RAG, ReAct and Knowledge Graphs
  • Evaluate, select, and integrate AI tools, frameworks, and platforms
  • Support user interviews and contribute to product planning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive impactful projects

Requirements For Lead Data Engineer

Python
  • At least 7 years as a software engineer, with 2+ years in AI, machine learning, and data engineering
  • Experience with modern data workflow orchestration frameworks (Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect)
  • Experience with cloud native development, ideally AWS
  • Deep experience in Python and relevant frameworks such as pandas
  • Strong applied ML fundamentals alongside theoretical experience
  • Self-motivated and creative problem-solver
  • Proactive and independent work ethic with strong team collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in English, Fluent German is a big plus
