Job Description

Netflix's Open Connect (OC) team is seeking a Geo and Network Intelligence Software Engineer to join their critical infrastructure group. This role is part of the GNI team, which focuses on IP Geolocation mapping and network insights delivery. The position involves working with Netflix's content delivery network (CDN) that handles approximately 15% of all internet downstream traffic. The role combines distributed systems engineering with network intelligence, requiring expertise in both large-scale system design and network fundamentals. You'll work on projects like Probnik (network measurement framework) and Fast.com speed test, while solving complex challenges in mapping network behavior to real-world locations and improving member streaming experiences. Python
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience in large-scale distributed systems
  • Proficiency with a modern programming language
  • Extensive knowledge of core networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, BGP, TLS)
  • Deep understanding of how ISPs connect to each other and the Internet
  • Experience querying, analyzing, and presenting data in large-scale data lakes (Trino, SparkSQL, pySpark, etc.)
  • In-depth insight developing software or protocols that enhance or prioritize member privacy
