Job Description

Netflix, a global entertainment powerhouse serving over 300 million subscribers across 190+ countries, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (L5) to join their Special Operations Accounts, Workflows & Tools (SWT) Team within the Consumer Identity and Access Engineering organization.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to architect and build core technical systems that power Netflix's identity platform. As part of the SWT team, you'll be responsible for delivering robust platform solutions and internal tooling that shape how developers and stakeholders build, maintain, and test Netflix products. The position requires expertise in distributed systems and backend engineering, with a focus on creating secure, scalable solutions.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical capabilities in backend development, particularly with languages like Java, Go, or Python, and has extensive experience with cloud environments (AWS), distributed databases (Cassandra, DynamoDB), and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ). You'll be working in a high-scale environment where your decisions directly impact the security and scalability of Netflix's identity ecosystem.

What makes this role particularly compelling is the combination of technical challenges and leadership opportunities. Beyond coding, you'll mentor early-career engineers, drive technical excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional partners. The compensation is highly competitive, ranging from $100,000 to $720,000, reflecting Netflix's commitment to attracting top talent.

The role offers the chance to work at Netflix's Los Gatos office, where you'll be part of a culture that values innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning. You'll be contributing to systems that enable hundreds of millions of users to access Netflix's content securely and efficiently. If you're passionate about building scalable systems, mentoring others, and working at the intersection of identity, security, and platform engineering, this role presents an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact at one of the world's leading technology companies.
