Description For DevSecOps Engineer

Northstrat is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join their distributed operations team, focusing on developing modular cloud technologies and optimized infrastructure for the Department of Defense. This role is specifically supporting the U.S. Navy Spectral Program, which is crucial for combating sophisticated cyber and electronic threats.

The position involves bridging development and operations, ensuring seamless software deployment in distributed environments. You'll be responsible for building and deploying automation tools and infrastructure that enables efficient delivery of high-quality software in production environments. Working within an Agile development team, you'll leverage scaled agile practices to deliver incremental software solutions.

The role requires expertise in Kubernetes, CI/CD tools, and distributed cloud technologies. You'll work on implementing infrastructure as code, automation pipelines, and security best practices. The position demands strong technical skills in containerization, orchestration tools, and programming languages like Python and Java.

As part of a collaborative team environment, you'll contribute to continuous improvement within the Distributed Operations and Remoting Services team for Spectral. The work directly impacts national security by enabling Spectral capabilities across multiple platforms and sharing information with remote sites.

Responsibilities For DevSecOps Engineer

  • Deploy scalable infrastructure as code across distributed environments
  • Implement automation and repeatable CI/CD for distributed environments
  • Infrastructure as code provisioning using Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, Helm charts
  • Implement health and status remoting capabilities
  • Employ security best practices and tools
  • Automate routine tasks using Python, Java, etc.
  • Work with cross domain solutions for continuous authority to field software packages
  • Communicate and collaborate within team constructs

Requirements For DevSecOps Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, System Engineering, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Software Engineering
  • Knowledge of Python, Java, Bash, Go
  • Strong understanding of Docker, Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gitlab)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet)
  • Active Top Secret/SCI DoD Security Clearance
  • Experience with cloud/hybrid/on-prem environments (preferred)
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices (preferred)
  • Security certifications (Sec+, CCNA, SSCP) (preferred)
