Job Description

NXP Semiconductors, a global leader in secure connectivity solutions for embedded applications, is seeking a Principal Engineer in Automation, Machine Learning & AI to spearhead their technological transformation. This role combines cutting-edge AI/ML implementation with practical automation in semiconductor manufacturing, making it an exciting opportunity for experienced technologists.

The position involves leading the automation and AI-driven transformation of wafer test, final test, visual inspection, and packing operations. You'll be at the forefront of implementing smart manufacturing solutions, developing ML models for predictive maintenance, and optimizing quality control through AI-driven systems. The role offers a unique blend of hands-on technical work and leadership responsibilities, including mentoring other engineers.

As a Principal Engineer, you'll work with state-of-the-art technologies including machine learning frameworks, robotics, and IoT systems. Responsibilities For Principal Engineer in Automation, Machine Learning & AI

  • Design and implement automation solutions for wafer test, final test, visual inspection, and packing processes
  • Develop and integrate ATE, probe station automation, and handler robotics
  • Implement PLC, robotics, and IoT-based automation
  • Develop and deploy AI-driven machine vision for defect detection
  • Optimize test parameters with ML-based adaptive testing
  • Implement ML-based predictive analytics
  • Conduct training sessions to upskill engineers in automation, ML, and AI applications
  • Provide technical mentorship on AI-based test optimization

Requirements For Principal Engineer in Automation, Machine Learning & AI

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, AI, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor automation, ML/AI development, or smart manufacturing
  • Expertise in PLC programming, robotics, and IoT-based automation
  • Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, MATLAB
  • Experience in OCR, AI-based defect classification, and automated visual inspection
  • Knowledge of big data analysis, ML-driven failure prediction
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and training abilities
