Description For Electrical Power Systems Engineer (Data Science)

Octopus Energy Group is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Engineer (Data Science) to join their Kraken Grid team. The energy industry is undergoing a massive transformation, and Octopus Energy is positioning itself at the heart of this change. They aim to be the leading global provider of solutions that enable customers to release £30bn of value per annum from distributed energy resources (DERs).

As part of the Kraken Grid team, your main mission will be to take care of and improve grid analytics solutions. You'll be designing, implementing, and testing innovative power systems algorithms to solve challenges of electrical distribution grids. You'll also lead the development of power system algorithms for custom projects, write technical requirements and specification documents, and implement core algorithms in Kraken Grid solutions.

The ideal candidate should have 2-5 years of industry experience, excellent knowledge of electrical power distribution grids, and expert-level skills in Python programming. You should be curious, eager to learn, and have a high analytical mind to solve complex issues. The role requires excellent communication skills in English and experience in agile software development.
