Okta, The World's Identity Company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Technology, Data, & Intelligence organization. This role is part of the Productivity Engineering team, responsible for developing internal tooling, infrastructure, and services that empower Okta employees to work effectively.
The position reports to the Director of Business Technology Sales & Partners and focuses on scaling business solutions while maintaining a strong emphasis on security. As a Staff Engineer, you'll be expected to operate with high autonomy, provide technical leadership, and own project deliverables from conception to implementation.
Key responsibilities include architectural ownership and design, where you'll translate business needs into well-architected solutions, and project leadership, managing end-to-end delivery cycles. You'll serve as a technical mentor, setting high standards for coding practices and elevating team capabilities. The role requires effective cross-functional collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to influence technical initiatives across multiple teams.
The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, including AI-first initiatives. You'll be responsible for building Agents using Agentforce or open-source libraries, and leveraging AI workflow orchestration tools. The role requires strategic thinking to identify opportunities for long-term architectural improvements and influence the technical roadmap.
Compensation ranges from $151,000 to $227,000 USD annually, complemented by equity, bonus, and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), and paid leave. The position is based in Chicago, IL, and requires occasional travel to office locations for in-person onboarding.
