OpenAI is seeking a Research Engineer/Scientist to join their Agents research team, the innovative force behind ChatGPT Agent, Deep Research, and Operator. This role combines cutting-edge research with practical implementation, focusing on developing agents that can reason and act in the real world. The position offers a competitive salary range of $295K-$530K plus equity and comprehensive benefits.
The role involves working at the frontier of AI research, specifically in training large-scale language models to perform complex tasks. You'll be responsible for fundamental research, contributing to model training runs, and launching trained models as agent products. The position requires a unique blend of research expertise and engineering capabilities, with opportunities to influence the direction of AI development.

- Own and pursue a research agenda to identify the weakness of the model and improve it
- Build robust evaluations for tracking modeling improvements
- Design, implement, test, and debug code across our research stack
