Description For Data Center Manager

Oracle's Data Center team is rapidly expanding with new regions and sites across AMER each month. We're looking for an experienced leader, with strong people management experience, business acumen and well-rounded IT technical abilities (at scale) to lead the teams responsible for building and supporting our cloud data centers in the United States.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership, direction, and operational excellence within a subset of sites
  • Working at a global level with peers to achieve consistency and avoid site variability
  • Managing incoming/outgoing logistical needs, rack receipt processes, excess inventory processes, and rack decommissions
  • Coaching and mentoring individual contributors across the organization
  • Growing your team by recruiting and hiring top talent in diverse marketplaces
  • Collaborating with best-in-class architects, engineers, product managers, QA and Documentation teams

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware (Server, Storage, and Networking devices)
  • Experience managing multi-discipline teams at scale within a Cloud Data Center space
  • Ability to navigate local customs, laws & employment directives
  • Deep technical grounding in the physical aspects of IT Service Delivery
  • Experience in capacity expansions at all scales (rack additions, block additions, white space growth, new sites)
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to scale operations
  • Effective upwards reporting of progress, KPIs, and incidents

This role offers the opportunity to work with an elite team to implement and support pioneering Oracle technology in Cloud Data Centers, involving the build-out of new sites, hiring new teams and staff, and working with local partners and vendors.

Responsibilities For Data Center Manager

  • Grow your team by recruiting and hiring top talent in diverse marketplaces
  • Collaborate with best-in-class architects, engineers, product managers, QA and Documentation teams
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of all Data Center sites under your area, in a 24/7 mission critical environment
  • Ensure timely delivery of services/tasks to meet project milestones
  • Drive capacity expansions at all scales (rack additions, block additions, white space growth, new sites)
  • React to and manage incidents, driving resolution and After-Action analysis

Requirements For Data Center Manager

Linux
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware (Server, Storage, and Networking devices)
  • Experience managing multi-discipline teams at scale within a Cloud Data Center space
  • Ability to navigate local customs, laws & employment directives
  • Deep technical grounding in the physical aspects of IT Service Delivery
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to scale operations
  • Effective upwards reporting of progress, KPIs, and incidents
  • BA/BS degree preferred
