Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Oscar Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join their Engineering team. As the first health insurance company built on a full-stack technology platform, Oscar aims to create a member-focused healthcare experience.

The role involves building reliable and maintainable applications, infrastructure, and interfaces that simplify healthcare system interactions for members and providers. You'll collaborate with partners, product managers, and designers to tackle complex challenges while working alongside other engineers to enhance technology and implement best practices.

Key responsibilities include becoming an expert in your team's business and technical domains, leading complex technical projects from planning to release, and owning features or infrastructure projects from design through completion. You'll work independently while maintaining high code quality standards and contributing to technical migrations of existing services.

The position offers competitive compensation ($158,400 - $207,900 base pay) plus benefits including unlimited vacation, equity grants, and performance bonuses. Oscar provides a blended work culture with flexible remote options, though office presence is required for those near NYC, Tempe, or LA locations.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, strong CS fundamentals, and a track record of impactful contributions. Experience with Python, Golang, observability tools (Grafana, BigQuery, Kubernetes), and data engineering tooling is highly valued.
