Description For Solar Project Development Engineer III

The Solar Project Development Engineer III at Pivot Energy will engage in solar PV and energy storage design engineering, supporting the development and construction of community- and utility-scale solar and storage systems ranging from 1MWac to 20MWac. This role involves designing and drafting, energy performance modeling, equipment review and selection, utility and AHJ coordination, and coordination with third-party engineering consultants. The position requires excellent communication skills and a high degree of professionalism.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing community and utility-scale solar PV and storage projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and PVCase
  • Generating and reviewing electrical diagrams for solar and storage applications
  • Conducting performance analysis using PVSyst
  • Completing electrical calculations and peer reviews
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and equipment manufacturers
  • Reviewing and approving equipment vendors and products
  • Creating and maintaining project documentation
  • Conducting site visits and environmental assessments

Required competencies:

  • Four-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience with community and utility-scale solar PV
  • Knowledge of photovoltaic system design, electrical codes, and utility processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and related PV design software
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills
