Job Description

Pulse is at the forefront of solving complex data infrastructure challenges, specifically focusing on extracting structured information from complex documents at scale. As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern for Summer 2026, you'll have the unique opportunity to work directly with the founding engineers on cutting-edge ML challenges that span computer vision, NLP, and data infrastructure.

The company, backed by tier-1 investors, serves an impressive client base including Fortune 100 enterprises, YC startups, public investment firms, and growth-stage companies. Their breakthrough architecture combines schema mapping with fine-tuned extraction models to overcome limitations of traditional OCR and parsing methods.

This internship is specifically designed for second- or third-year undergraduate students who are passionate about gaining hands-on experience with production-scale AI systems. You'll be involved in critical tasks such as training and fine-tuning various models, optimizing GPU performance, and contributing to evaluation pipelines.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $40-$70 per hour, depending on experience, along with additional benefits like daily meal stipends and valuable mentorship opportunities. Based in San Francisco, this on-site position provides an excellent opportunity to work with a small, fast-growing team while making meaningful contributions to real-world AI applications.

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in Python and either PyTorch or JAX, along with familiarity with modern vision or multimodal architectures. While experience with distributed training or model optimization and open source contributions in ML/NLP/CV would be beneficial, the core focus is on finding someone with solid programming skills and a genuine interest in production systems.
