Description For CPU Physical Design Engineer

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a talented CPU Physical Design Engineer to join their team in Santa Clara. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of CPU design and implementation. As a CPU Physical Design Engineer, you'll collaborate with microarchitecture and RTL design teams to create cutting-edge solutions that meet aggressive power, area, and performance goals.

The position requires deep expertise in CPU design, with responsibilities ranging from working closely with the microarchitecture team to understand specifications and design trade-offs, to performing complex implementations using industry-standard tools. You'll be involved in all aspects of the design process, from RTL to GDS, ensuring optimal performance through synthesis, place and route, and validation stages.

The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of practical experience along with an MS in Electrical Engineering. Your expertise should span CPU microarchitecture, deep submicron process technology, and advanced implementation methodologies. This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art tools and technologies while contributing to groundbreaking CPU designs.

Responsibilities For CPU Physical Design Engineer

  • Work with CPU microarchitecture team to understand specifications and design trade offs in pipeline and structure sizing
  • Perform feasibilities to validate implementability, area, timing and power
  • Synthesize the Verilog RTL into gate level designs and perform optimizations
  • Perform SynthPlace & Route on the designs using industry standard tools and deliver GDS
  • Optimize the design at various stages from RTL to GDS to meet timing, power and area goals
  • Validate the designs for functional and electrical robustness

Requirements For CPU Physical Design Engineer

Java
  • MS degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of practical experience
  • Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture
  • Experience in deep submicron process technology nodes
  • Knowledge of library cells and optimizations
  • Solid understanding industry standard tools for synthesis, place & route and tapeout flows
  • Experience with Synthesis, place and route and signoff timing/power analysis
  • Knowledge of high performance and low power implementation methods
  • Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture, logic design and circuits
