You'll mentor junior engineers, make key technical decisions, and work directly with clients to solve complex data challenges. Responsibilities For Principal Data Engineer
- Lead, support, and mentor a team of junior data engineers within an agile framework
- Set medium term strategy for the technical delivery of projects
- Write defensive, fault tolerant and efficient code for production level data processing systems
- Configure and deploy Quantexa's software using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, Elasticsearch
- Articulate technical concepts to non-technical audience
- Collaborate with solution architects and R&D engineers
- Travel to client offices in Ottawa as needed
Requirements For Principal Data Engineer
- 8+ years of industry experience in data engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in a lead role
- Proficiency in Scala, Java, Python, or similar programming languages
- Experience with building and deploying production level data processing batch systems
- Experience with modern development tooling (Git, Gradle, Nexus)
- Strong technical communication ability
- Knowledge of testing libraries and different test types
