Job Description

Rackspace is seeking an AWS Support Engineer II to join their cloud infrastructure services team. This role combines cloud engineering expertise with customer support, focusing on AWS technologies and infrastructure management. As an L2 AWS Support Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of cloud technology, handling everything from advanced troubleshooting of AWS services to implementing infrastructure as code and managing Kubernetes clusters. You'll work with core AWS services like EC2, S3, VPC, and Lambda, while also developing automation solutions using Python, Bash, and AWS CLI.

The role requires a strong technical foundation in AWS services and a customer-focused mindset. You'll be responsible for resolving complex technical issues, optimizing cloud resources, and implementing best practices for security and performance. Responsibilities For AWS Support Engineer II

  • Investigate and resolve issues related to networking (VPC, subnets, security groups) and storage
  • Analyze and fix application performance issues on AWS infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain scripts for routine tasks using Python, Bash, or AWS CLI
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Create and manage EKS clusters
  • Configure and verify backups, snapshots, and disaster recovery plans
  • Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization and costs
  • Address Level 2 support tickets
  • Assist Level 1 engineers with escalations and mentor them

Requirements For AWS Support Engineer II

Python
Kubernetes
  • Advanced understanding of AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of AWS automation, scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell), and CLI
  • Experience with AWS CloudFormation and Terraform
  • Understanding of AWS security best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (Preferred)
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (Preferred)
