Job Description

Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a Principal Geospatial Software Engineer for their Next Gen Water Prediction Capability (NGWPC) program. This is a remote position focused on building a scalable, operational-quality Next Generation Water Resources Modeling Framework. The role involves leading enterprise hydrofabric development, architecting geospatial services, and working with cutting-edge technologies in cloud environments.

The position requires expertise in geospatial software engineering, working with various data formats and tools like STAC, Zarr, and GeoTIFFs. You'll be collaborating with NOAA's National Weather Service Office of Water Prediction to develop critical water modeling and flood forecasting operations. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring both architectural vision and practical implementation skills.

As a Principal Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing scalable solutions, leading development activities, and ensuring the successful delivery of enterprise-level geospatial services. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $101,000 to $203,000, along with comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401(k), and flexible work arrangements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geospatial software engineer looking to make an impact on national-scale water resource management systems. The role offers the flexibility of remote work while being part of a mission-critical program that helps defend and protect national interests. RTX's century-long experience in engineering excellence and commitment to innovation makes this an ideal position for someone looking to work on meaningful problems with real-world impact.
