As a Flight Control Law Engineer, you'll join their Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Team in Mountain View, California, working on cutting-edge automated aviation systems. The role combines aerospace expertise with software engineering, focusing on developing and implementing flight control laws for various flight phases including autotaxi, auto-takeoff, and autoland.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $128,000 to $160,000, along with comprehensive benefits including stock options, medical coverage, and 401k contributions. You'll be working in a casual environment with a mission-driven team of engineers experienced in aerospace, robotics, and self-driving cars.

Your responsibilities will span from establishing system requirements to implementing and testing flight control laws. You'll work directly with pilots and operations teams, developing flight test plans and communicating design updates. The role requires strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python, as you'll be working with both flight software and simulation environments.

The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of professional experience in flight controls algorithms and a BS in aerospace engineering or robotics. Additional preferences include an MS degree and pilot certifications. Responsibilities For Flight Control Law Engineer

  • Establish autoflight and flight control system requirements
  • Interface with Pilots and Operations team to develop flight test plans
  • Design and analyze flight control laws from conceptual design through implementation and certification
  • Develop simulation models to evaluate flight control system performance and stability
  • Implement control laws and algorithms in flight software
  • Test flight software in simulation, Monte Carlo, hardware-in-loop, and flight

Requirements For Flight Control Law Engineer

Python
  • BS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or equivalent field
  • 3+ years of hands on, professional experience developing and testing flight controls algorithms
  • Experience with flight dynamics simulation and model identification
  • Professional experience with developing C/C++ flight software and Python data reduction & analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time
