Job Description
SciTec, a dynamic small business focused on national security and defense, is seeking a Staff/Sr. Staff Software Developer to join their Future Systems team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge sensor data processing technologies and scientific instrumentation capabilities supporting the Department of Defense and U.S. Government.
The position involves developing low-latency data processing, classification, fusion, and tracking algorithms for remote sensing systems exploitation. Working in a collaborative, small-team environment alongside Scientists, Engineers, and Developers, you'll be responsible for prototyping and developing advanced algorithms that will be integrated into C++/Rust applications hosted on cloud systems.
The ideal candidate should have at least two years of professional experience with strong expertise in Rust or C++, along with experience in cloud deployment, DevSecOps, and CICD pipelines. Knowledge of Kubernetes, Prometheus, and Grafana is highly valued, as is experience with state estimation, tracking, or Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC).
SciTec offers an attractive compensation package ranging from $94,000 to $141,000 annually, complemented by comprehensive benefits including an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, 401(k) with company contribution, full medical coverage, and various insurance options. The company promotes a flexible work environment while maintaining an in-person presence at their El Segundo, CA location.
This role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, as the work directly supports critical national security initiatives. Responsibilities For Staff/Sr. Staff Software Developer
- Demonstrate fluent, idiomatic mastery of primary language; comfortable with software design and architecture
- Regularly communicate with team, present status, engage in program-level meetings and processes
- Characterize quality/performance of algorithms and sensor systems
- Work as part of an Agile team and contribute to shared tools
Requirements For Staff/Sr. Staff Software Developer
- Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science
- At least two years of professional experience and fluency in Rust or C++
- Experience with application orchestration and/or deployment to the cloud with docker, docker-compose, podman, Kubernetes, etc.
- Experience with DevSecOps and CICD pipelines
- Professional experience in mission critical and real time applications
- Fluency with Linux operating systems
- Ability to work in-person in El Segundo, CA office location
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
