Description For Lead Motor Control Engineer, Embedded Software

Skyryse is revolutionizing the aviation industry with their innovative SkyOS platform - a universal operating system for flight that aims to make flying safer and more accessible. As a Lead Motor Control Engineer in the Embedded Software team, you'll be at the forefront of developing critical flight automation technologies.

The role involves architecting and developing software for motor control units, working closely with system engineers to create certifiable flight systems. You'll be responsible for designing algorithms, developing driver software, and ensuring all work meets rigorous aviation standards including DO-178C compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with 8+ years of experience in embedded systems and motor control. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in C/C++ programming, MATLAB/Simulink, and field-oriented control. Experience with aviation systems and certification processes (DO-331, FAA) is highly valued.

Responsibilities For Lead Motor Control Engineer, Embedded Software

  • Design and develop algorithm and driver software for the electro-magnetic control unit
  • Support the analysis of controller to ensure it meets performance requirements
  • Support the development of actuator models for use in analysis
  • Work with the systems group to meet all objectives of DO-178C
  • Work with embedded software team to interface and control various peripherals
  • Develop software using Matlab/Simulink AND/OR C/C++
  • Write, review, and approve system and software requirements and design documents

Requirements For Lead Motor Control Engineer, Embedded Software

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of professional working experience
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, dSpace
  • Familiarity with field oriented control
  • Self starter with ability to work independently
  • Experience in developing software requirements, design, test and verification documents
