This remote position offers an opportunity to directly impact #BetterGlobalHealth through their FHIR-based data liberation platform used in over 20 countries.
The role involves translating complex medical specifications into data queries using specialized software language, making healthcare data more accessible and actionable. You'll be responsible for researching and implementing healthcare data models, designing test plans, and ensuring data accuracy across healthcare systems worldwide.
As a Senior Knowledge Engineer, you'll collaborate with healthcare specialists, clinicians, and terminologists to implement and test healthcare specifications. The position requires expertise in FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and experience with query languages like SQL. Your work will directly support healthcare providers in making optimal clinical decisions and measuring healthcare quality.

Responsibilities For Senior Knowledge Engineer
- Write simplified healthcare code to represent healthcare specifications (eCQMs and CDS-Hooks)
- Research healthcare data models (FHIR), healthcare logic expressions (CQL) and healthcare definitional models
- Design test plans to ensure correct data generation
- Generate sample data to exercise defined test plan and criteria
- Document, maintain and publish results in FHIR Implementation Guides
- Collaborate with healthcare specialists, clinicians, and terminologists
- Identify and capture best practices and lessons learned
- Maintain confidentiality, privacy and integrity of company information
Requirements For Senior Knowledge Engineer
- 1-5+ years of experience as an informaticist, software developer or relevant role
- Post-secondary education in computer science or related field
- Excellent computer literacy skills
- Strong collaborative verbal and written communication skills
- Creative problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- High level of self-motivation and professionalism
- Experience with FHIR preferred
- Experience with query languages like SQL preferred
