Job Description

Smith+Nephew, a global medical technology leader, is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to join their Advanced Wound Management (AWM) division. This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of wound care through innovative digital products.

The position involves leading software research, design, and development efforts for complex software systems within the AWM Digital Products team. As a technical lead, you'll work closely with Users, Product Owners, and UI/UX Designers to deliver business requirements and meet user needs. The role requires collaboration with the R&D Director and senior team members to deliver SaaS-based platforms to market.

You'll be responsible for full-stack development, including frontend, backend, database, cloud, and DevOps implementations. Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer (Andover, MA)

  • Lead full-stack development including frontend, backend, database, cloud, and DevOps
  • Lead software development planning, design, documentation, implementation, testing and maintenance
  • Work with Product Owner and UI/UX Designers to refine and estimate the backlog
  • Mentor junior software engineers
  • Lead teams of software engineers with internal and external resources
  • Deliver high-quality source code using industry best practices
  • Ensure proper documentation throughout development phases
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams
  • Participate in Agile Development processes
  • Perform design control functions for FDA and ISO compliance

Requirements For Staff Software Engineer (Andover, MA)

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in delivering SaMD solutions
  • 6+ years of professional experience developing web applications using React
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS and frontend frameworks

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Experience with .NET and Node.js backends
  • Experience with front-end testing
  • Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD
  • Strong experience with Git-based workflows
