SpaceX, a pioneering space exploration company, is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to join their Starlink consumer hardware team in Hawthorne, CA. This role is crucial in developing and implementing automated manufacturing solutions for SpaceX's ambitious Starlink project, the world's largest satellite constellation providing global internet access.

Responsibilities For Automation & Controls Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

  • Design, develop, and manage automation projects including factory ideation and machine commissioning
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications
  • Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for manufacturing equipment
  • Generate HMI screens for machine operation and troubleshooting
  • Design electrical systems compliant to NEC, NFPA, & UL508A regulations
  • Create and manage schedules and budgets

Requirements For Automation & Controls Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science
  • Experience with PLC programming, preferably Beckhoff TwinCAT
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and controls
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary
  • Willing to travel 10-50% of the time
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR requirements
