Description For Manufacturing and Process Engineer, PCBA (Starlink)

As a Manufacturing and Process Engineer for PCBA (Starlink) at SpaceX, you'll play a crucial role in the production of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies for the Starlink project. You'll be responsible for managing PCBA processes and products for in-house production, driving processes for volume production, managing new product introduction, and continuously improving product output and quality.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that's making a global impact. You'll be part of a team that designs, builds, tests, and operates all parts of the Starlink system – from satellites to consumer antennae and the software that ties it all together.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning and managing PCBA processes and products
  • Driving volume production processes
  • Managing new product introductions
  • Maintaining documentation and training
  • Tracking production metrics and identifying optimization opportunities
  • Driving corrective actions and process improvements

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering and at least one year of professional experience in relevant areas such as manufacturing process, SMT, or PCB design. Experience with high volume production, knowledge of statistical techniques, and familiarity with IPC manufacturing standards are highly valued.

Responsibilities For Manufacturing and Process Engineer, PCBA (Starlink)

  • Own and manage PCBA processes and PCBA products for in-house production
  • Drive processes for volume production of PCBA including manufacturing execution, nonconforming product management, configuration management, traceability tracking, and process control
  • Manage new product introduction of PCBA assemblies, working closely with design engineers, and process specialists
  • Manage work instructions, process documentation, and training
  • Track schedule, work-in-progress levels, and defect rates of owned products
  • Identify trends and opportunities for optimizing product output, quality enhancements, and cost of manufacturability
  • Drive corrective actions and process improvements on owned processes and products

Requirements For Manufacturing and Process Engineer, PCBA (Starlink)

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, software, industrial, electrical, or other engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of professional experience in manufacturing process, SMT, accelerated testing, design for reliability, or PCB design and layout
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Willing to work weekend and extended hours as needed
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee due to ITAR requirements
