SpaceX is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to join their Consumer Hardware team focusing on Starlink manufacturing operations in Hawthorne, CA. The position involves leading creative, multidisciplinary projects that span machine design, robotics, motion systems, and factory health monitoring. Responsibilities For Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

  • Design, develop, and manage automation projects including factory ideation, machine commissioning, and operational handoff
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications
  • Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for manufacturing equipment
  • Generate HMI screens for machine operation and troubleshooting
  • Design electrical systems compliant to NEC, NFPA, & UL508A regulations
  • Create and manage schedules and budgets

Requirements For Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science
  • 5+ years of professional automation experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with PLC programming, preferably Beckhoff TwinCAT
  • Knowledge of industrial software and robotics programming
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary
  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR requirements
