StackedSP Inc is an exciting early-stage startup founded in 2023 by veterans from Google, Databricks, and Canva, focused on building enterprise-grade AI autonomous agents. They're seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their core backend/infrastructure team in New York City.
As one of the first backend/infrastructure engineers, you'll have a foundational role in designing and implementing the systems that make enterprise AI deployments reliable, scalable, and secure. The position requires 6+ years of experience in building and scaling backend systems, with expertise in Python, AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
The role offers a unique opportunity to shape the technical architecture from the ground up, working on everything from APIs to authentication, metering, and observability systems. You'll be tackling real-world scaling challenges while working alongside experienced builders from top tech companies in a fast-moving environment.
This is a high-impact position where you'll have significant ownership over critical systems that power enterprise AI services. The compensation package includes a competitive salary range of $180,000-$240,000 plus meaningful equity in a well-funded startup. The position is based in NYC and requires on-site work, offering the chance to be part of a tight-knit team building the future of enterprise AI.

- Architect and build backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure that power enterprise-grade AI agents
- Lead projects across authentication, observability, metering, billing, and metadata systems
- Own infrastructure automation (IaC), Kubernetes-based deployments, and CI/CD pipelines
- Design backend solutions with an eye toward reliability, security, scalability, and high performance
- Collaborate closely with platform engineers, solutions architects, and product teams to deliver cohesive systems at scale
Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, Backend/Infrastructure – Build the Core Systems Powering Enterprise AI
- 6+ years building and scaling backend systems and infrastructure, ideally for enterprise SaaS or AI products
- Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, Terraform (or similar), and CI/CD systems
- Strong backend development experience in Python (or similar languages)
- A track record of designing secure, reliable APIs and distributed systems
- High ownership mindset—comfortable architecting systems and getting your hands dirty building them
- Based in or willing to work onsite with the team in NYC
